Following upon the filming at the Mooi Weer Spelen last year, the short video has now been edited (With the kind help of Invite-AV). A video which shows what diversity of acts perform at the Mooi Weer Spelen, and how nice the atmosphere is throughout the whole festival. So if you like street performances, and you are near Delft during the 4th, 5th and 6th of June, just go to the city centre and get amused.
A short film directed by Wolfram Friele. I did the filming. We filmed it at a small theatre in Delft. Filmed in HD with the Sony Z1.
It was submitted to the Quickflick short film festival, in Amsterdam. It got the second prize.
Just a quick design update on Sam Serveert’s website. It’s a small website for a weekly party by DJ Sampagne.

By the way – I’ve been doing some VJ’ing again lately.
First gig was in Utrecht, at the Hip Hop party ROF van Jaeden.
Second one was in at Club DNA [pdf file], celebrating the new location of the DNA, some creative network something (a description which understates this organization).
They were definitely nice, and they gave me the ambition of doing some more VJ’ing! Still have to invest more time in setting it up again, but time will be on my side in 5 months. Hopefully.
Cheers,
“The Perspectivity Game creates a lesson from experience in the social dynamics of sustainability issues.”
A great concept, of which people can learn. A board game played with a group. It is hopefully beneficial for the players, in a way that it will change their behaviour.
During a sunny weekend, O2 Nederland played the game. I was asked to film it, with the purpose of creating a promotional video of the game.
The Skatejam is a skate/inline/bmx competition, an event held every year. This year the organisation hired a huge LED video screen. We also got a live multi-cam setup, and we were ready to film. I also made a nice animation loop, for times there wasn’t a competition going on.
Some people saw me on public television yesterday! At “De Wereld Draait Door” (click to view the programme). With the Club van Delft crew we got a tour in the Mediaplantage, Amsterdam. It was great to see how they make television, pure professionals.
Design4u designs control rooms and is specialized in ergonomics. They needed a new professional website to present their projects and clients. I tweaked the content managing system Wordpress to fit their needs. Next to this, the website is optimized for Google, and it will get a high rank in certain search queries.
So I made this flyer for this charity party; Snelbinder.
Xenia and Naomi organize the third party, and all the money will go to KiKa (Children cancer free)
Heads up for Studioinbeeld for making the pictures.
Finally finished, the reportage for the 35 years anniversary of Filmhuis Lumen. Because they are making a small booklet for their anniversary, they want people to send in anecdotes, photo or film material about the art-house.
Shot on the Sony Z1U, one of the first video’s for the Club van Delft in HD. We chose to switch to HD because we have the ability to deliver everything in HD (Youtube/Vimeo). I filmed, directed and edited the reportage. Of course with help from the others at Club van Delft.
So today I finished off two more bumpers for the Club van Delft. The short video’s will be shown before every new reportage begins. To give more identity to the Club van Delft.
Also included is the animated credit roll.
This is a trailer for a special theatrical event. Made in conjunction with Theater Netwerk Delft.
Directed, filmed and post produced the video.
This is the video I made for Gotta Launch. A short youtube movie to show the world record attempt.
The fourteen year old Boyan Slat managed to get a world record; with launching 213 water rockets simultaneously. Quite some attention from the media. He asked me to film the whole thing, so I did. I’m acquiring all the footage right now, then I’ll edit it.
So this weekend I was blessed to film with the Sony PMW-EX1. I had to make a general video impression of the Mooi Weer Spelen, in Delft. So I was left walking trough Delft the whole weekend with a fancy camera in my hands. I just captured the video, and I just couldn’t resist putting some footage online already.
This is some video I shot during the act of Blikopener, where they played around with fire. So I was playing around with the variable framerates of the EX1, which resulted in the short timelapse and the slowmotion shots. It’s 60 frames per second, in HD 750p. Straight out of the camera, so no post production in any form (except the dreadful capturing of the footage).
The final movie, featuring more acts from the Mooi Weer Spelen ‘09, will be released within a month (or something like that).
© Giorgos Logiotatidis made these nice pictures. Busy filming the Perspectivity Game, I’m making a small video for them. In return I could sail the whole weekend, in Fryslân, together with O2.
See the result
So I found out about Jquery.
Which is a kind of javascript something (I still don’t get it).
But it seems like I could use it, as it is light weight. Therefore I updated the code of my work page.
It should run smoother now. Great.
Cheers,
But I just figured out it doesn’t work right in FireFox. So I’ll have to solve that (tomorrow). If you’re dying to see my work, just don’t enable javascript in your preferences and everything will show up.
For the upcoming Club van Delft reportage, I already shot some additional footage. The lads from Filmhuis Lumen (an art house cinema in Delft) showed me how the film projector works, and they let me make loads of footage.
Because I got so much nice footage, and not everything will be used for the reportage, I thought it would be nice to make a small video. It shows quite well how everything works, and I guess that a lot of you always wanted to know how the film projector works. At least, I always wanted to know.
This week we will be filming the interviews, so the reportage will be online in a couple of weeks!
Cheers,
After quite some weeks we finally finished the reportage of Musicalgroup Rits.
Rits needed a theatre to practice and Ipse had a theatre which they offered. A beautiful match. Next to this, Rits was looking for some more volunteers who could help them with playing or behind the scene activities.
The initial purpose was to make a reportage about these two things.
Together with Inge and Pascha and a Sony Z1U we went to the Ipse building during their weekly rehearsal. We interviewed the head of Rits, the director of Rits’ new musical, and the location manager of Ipse. Next to this we made a lot of additional footage of the building and the ‘actors’.
I was appointed to direct the camera and edit the reportage. The final edit would be done by Inge. This was where the problem began. We wanted to show both the match and the request for new volunteers, but after some drafts of edits we figured out that it was just too much for five minutes, and it was too complicated. So we only showed the request.
Sometimes you have to make choices in editing, no matter how hard it is to leave some things out.
And of course this is the first reportage featuring the great bumper!
The next reportage in which I cooperate will be about an art house (Filmhuis Lumen), also requesting volunteers.
All shot with a analog one-time camera. I think they have a great old feel. I’m filling up my second film roll now.
Recently I’ve been working on a bumper (=short intro in front of a video) for the Club van Delft. We have a basic idea for multiple bumpers. It will be put in front of every video we produce, to create a recognizable identity. And this is the first one.
Johannes shot the video, and it features the young Ben.
In Color I used seven colour correction levels, to enhance the ‘look’ of the video (as it will be used a lot, it should be good looking).
The rest of the animation was done in Motion. In the first part I put a tracker on his finger, and the rest of the throw is just a bit of keyframing. Especially the tracker didn’t recognize every frame that smoothly, but I guess I’ll have to work on my matchmove skills.
Hope to post another bumper soon, because I’m busy animating the second one.
I’m also finishing off a reportage for the Club van Delft, about musicalgroup ‘Rits’.
Okay, here it is! It took some time to complete, but I find the result very pleasing.
I will keep this site updated, so subscribe on the rss feed, or make it a website you check every morning. Or don’t.
Do give me some feedback by commenting, I would be very delighted.
Toodle-oo!
I just finished this website for a talented photographer, it is being filled up as I speak.
Implemented the Wordpress system, translated everything into Dutch, added a easy to use photogallery. Sweet. Xeniafotografie.nl
WR.NXT masterclass was great!
Eddy Terstall, Franky Ribbens and Kevin Jerome Everson gave their reactions and useful tips on our short movies.
They fueled me up with a lot of inspiration.
We basically looked at all the movies of the participators, and then we discussed them and the pro’s gave some advice. There were some real nice ones; e.g. the short “Vier Ogen“, made by Feike Santbergen.
I really got the feeling that I get to know the medium ‘film’ better and better. But I know I’m far from understanding it thoroughly, but lots of time to learn.
Only school stops me from making loads of movies right now.
Very happy news, I am selected for a masterclass at the IFFR, International Film Festival Rotterdam.
A whole day long movie directors will learn us to film better, which is very, very nice I presume.

More things on this later.
Toodle-oo!
